Spring Migration

Each spring we try to make it to Port Rowan to see the bird migration. For one week we live in a tiny log cabin and spend our days wandering through marshes, beaches and forests amazed by everything we see. So many birds!

This year spring arrived later than we expected. All sorts of neat birds were still fluttering through Long Point when we got there at the end of May.

This year, for a closer look we took a pontoon boat out to the marshes by Long Point. This was Devon’s favourite expedition: he got to keep an eye out for pirates (there were some historically) and navigate the boat.

Ryder’s an old dog now, but she loved the trip too. Each morning we took her to the dog beach where she got to nap on the hot sand. Lovely, lovely:
