Cat House

It took team work, planning, and perseverence but we did it: we built a cat house for Gigi.

This summer I scavenged roadside lumber with the goal of making Devon a toddler bed. Since I was unsure how structurally sound that would be, we decided to first build a scale model for the cat.

So after lots of planning and measuring Gigi’s butt from several angles (she’s grown a lot since we got her) …

… we got to work …

… tested the structural load of the building with crickets …

… and used a dummy cat to understand sleep dynamics in the new space …

After all the hard work was done, Devon helped with the decorations. We’re now waiting to surprise Gigi with her new house. We hope she likes how we upgraded her from the laptop case where she currently prefers to sleep.
