We drove up to Manitoulin Island to scatter Grandpa Brent’s ashes — the island was one of his favourite places. Because it’s such a long but lovely drive, we stopped along the way to camp with Devon. He’s reached the age now where every moment of wilderness is fantastic: the lakes are for splashing, the woods are thrilling, and staying in a tent is the best thing ever.
Spending time outside with our adventure toddler and meeting family along the way made our sad trip more comforting. Now that Devon is thrilled to be in the woods all the time, we’re hoping to take him on more wilderness trips so he can learn to love nature as much as his Grandpa Brent.
