Father’s Day

We woke up groggy after a night of cat howls to the sound of thunderstorms petter-pattering around us. Devon came into bed to give tiny cuddles and handmade cards. The card said I’m a superhero. He’ll be so disappointed in a couple of years.

If there’s one thing I learned about being a father is how hard it is, but also how immensely satisfying. Raising Devon has been fairly humbling — there are few days where I feel like a superhero. But making him laugh makes up for that.

So to get some giggles out of him, we biked up to the splash pad. Storms were spinning all around us and Devon was just a tiny shriek of electricity running between the cold water jets. He had a pretty amazing time, and for a moment we all felt awake to everything inside us:
