The week we spent near the lake after Grandpa Brent passed away was incredibly sad, but also unexpectedly beautiful. Devon and I spent every day going up and down the beach.
All week long the sky threatened to rain, and often did. But that didn’t stop Devon from splashing in the water and running through the woods with his dinosaur. We listened for birds and roared at frogs. We pretended to be sharks and pirates. And we rushed into the still frozen lake without pants. Being with Devon outside gave us tiny moments of peace.
