Last night we went to FlashWR, a local photography showcase. I was really happy that one of my photos of Devon was selected as part of the showcase — seeing our feral child appear larger than life on a digital screen was definitely a thrill (and so true to life).
It was inspiring to see the many amazing photos showcased. And so sad. The keynote speaker was Larry Towell, who spent his career photographing US-lead atrocities around the world like the Nicaragua Contra War. And it seems that with Trump, America is eager to revisit some of it’s darkest chapters.
But seeing so many people engaging with art was enough to give us hope that there is a thin thread of humanity that’s maybe holding the world together.
