Vroom, vroom
We’ve been thinking about buying a car for a while now. Riding our bikes around town is so liberating, but also so much harder now that we have a tiny child and all the roads are clogged by construction.
So we made spreadsheets, researched fuel economy and safety ratings. We wanted a car that’s safe and that would also take us places: camping, up in the mountains, all the way to the Bay of Fundy when Devon grows up.
Turns out there aren’t too many choices that are safe, efficient and somewhat affordable. Cars cost a lot more than bikes, and they don’t make you feel like you’re flying either. So it goes. We finally narrowed our choice to a handful of options we wanted to try out:
“Let’s go out tonight and test drive a car,” I said. So we did. The car was responsive, lovely to drive, cheap, and it would fit all of us, our dog, and our camping gear.
“Let’s buy it,” we said. So we did. We ended up getting the Hyundai Elantra GT. The 2015 model was on clearance which should leave us with at least a little bit of money to go places.
