Devon has been off to a slow start: he’s nine months and hasn’t started crawling yet. For the first few months he hated belly time. He’s been catching up and building his core muscles, but he’s so lanky that when he tries to lift himself off the ground he looks like a wet noodle.
For the last few weeks he’s been getting around by rolling and pushing himself backwards across the room like a crab. He’s amazingly quick and efficient at getting around — whenever we leave the room we don’t know which corner we’re going to find him in next.
And this week for the first time he managed to get on his hands and knees and make a few tentative crawls forward. He’s really excited about it. We’ve been putting it off, but I think we need to start baby-proofing now.
Update: Crawling! Yay!
